Playing Mythborne

Intents, Scenes, and readiness

Learn how a Character's Intent becomes part of the party's next Scene.

An Intent describes what your Character is trying to do when the Campaign next resolves.

When an Intent is required

Each active Player participation needs an Intent while the current Scene is accepting them. Away Players are excluded. Having only Owner, Moderator, or Dungeon Master authority does not create a Player Intent.

Draft before you Submit

Save keeps your current writing without marking it ready. Submit makes the Intent count toward resolution. While the Intent window remains editable, you can update submitted text without returning it to Draft, or use Unsubmit when it should stop counting as ready.

Once an Intent has been processed into a Scene, it becomes read-only.

Readiness and resolution

Every required Intent being Submitted means the party is ready, but it does not always mean resolution begins immediately. The Campaign controls what happens next:

  • Manual waits for an authorised story manager;
  • After all Intents may apply a configured delay; and
  • Daily checks at its scheduled time and proceeds only when every required Intent is submitted.

An authorised Force Resolve can use the Intents currently submitted without waiting for the normal trigger. The Server confirms when resolution actually begins.

The party resolves together

Mythborne brings the party's submitted Intents into one resolution. The Scene generator works within the Campaign's rules and authoritative state. Dice may decide uncertain actions, and another Character's choice may change how the situation unfolds.

Read the result

The resolved Scene records what happened and carries its consequences forward. World time, resources, Items, Effects, dice, and ledger changes remain attached to the Campaign rather than disappearing into a chat history.

Story lets you revisit earlier Scenes, inspect published dice rolls, and expand the consequences ledger. Older story is organised into Chapters, Volumes, Sagas, and Chronicles as the Campaign grows.
